At the end of World War II, Japan had only 23 golf courses. Japan’s victory in the Canada Cup (now the World Cup of Golf) in 1957 was the start of a golf boom.
In 1960 there were 195 courses, then 424 in 1964, and today there are more than 2,500.
Golf has become the most popular sport in Japan.
